Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator-in-Training
Are you ready to launch a career in environmental stewardship? We’re seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator-in-Training at the Altoona Water Authority, a leading public sector water/wastewater authority.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure Wastewater Quality: Monitor and maintain wastewater treatment processes at our facilities to uphold high-quality standards.
- Operational Support: Assist in the operation and maintenance of treatment plants and associated facilities under the guidance of senior operators.
- Troubleshooting: Identify issues through regular inspections, sampling, and analysis, taking corrective actions as needed.
- Safety and Compliance: Uphold safety protocols and regulatory standards, including proper handling and storage of chemicals and supplies.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Training: Complete requirements to apply for a Class A-E, with sub-classes 1 & 4 wastewater treatment plant operator’s license within four (4) years of hire.
- Skills: Basic understanding of wastewater treatment processes and equipment; ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records.
Qualifications:
- License: Valid motor vehicle operator’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform medium to heavy physical work and occasional unpleasant tasks.
