Job Description: This position offers a unique opportunity to train as a Water Treatment Plant Operator within a leading public sector water/wastewater authority. Under the guidance of experienced operators and supervisors, you will assist in the maintenance and operation of AWA’s water treatment plants, ensuring the highest standards of water quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procure and distribute chemicals, ensuring proper handling and mixing.
  • Conduct water quality tests across our system, documenting and reporting findings.
  • Assist in facility maintenance and repairs as directed.
  • Monitor reservoir levels and manage fiber dam inflation.
  • Collaborate with lab personnel, managing water sample collection and testing.
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations, maintaining accurate records.
  • Operate computerized systems for water treatment processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in daily tasks.
  • Proficiency in interpreting data from meters and digital equipment.
  • Knowledge of water treatment plant operations and safety protocols.
  • Strong mathematical skills for calculations and analysis.
  • Effective communication skills for written reports and verbal instructions.
  • Valid Pennsylvania motor vehicle operator’s license.

Training and Career Development: You will receive comprehensive training to qualify for a Pennsylvania Class A Water Treatment Plant Operator’s License (Sub-classes 1-2-6-7-8-11-13-14) within forty-eight (48) months of hire or job award.
